Join the Department for Transport Estates team, managing a diverse portfolio of office accommodation across the UK. As Estates Client Manager, youāll lead on asset management, supplier oversight and stakeholder engagement for the office accommodation portfolio, ensuring properties are compliant, optimised and aligned to organisational needs. Working across Whitehall, youāll handle reporting and strategic planning, while supporting senior leaders with expert property insight. This varied role offers the opportunity to influence estates strategy, drive improvements and deliver impactful outcomes across a complex, high-profile portfolio.
Top Responsibilities
- Undertake accurately monthly budgeting, forecasting and financial management in respect of the Departmentās office accommodation portfolio requiring regular liaison with stakeholders including our Finance Business Partners.
- Work with Portfolio Management Office to ensure rent and service charges are collected and paid, track and validate rates liabilities, and support financial planning with respect to any rates changes.
- Manage all Operational Estates Master Services Agreements that set the overarching terms for ongoing service relationships.
- Effectively managing the office accommodation portfolio to minimise risks and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, professional, and contractual requirements.
- Carry out property management tasks including lease negotiations, lease renewals and consents required.
- Negotiating and delivering commercial arrangements to meet the Departmentās needs.
- Manage Memoranda of Terms of Occupation with GPA/HMRC which define how Government departments occupy space within the civil estate.

About You
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Experience of property management, specifically office accommodation, working in a professional property team, and leading on projects and delivering advice to clients.
- Experience of maintaining effective relationships at all levels and across multiple difference professional disciplines (such as HR, Digital Services and Personnel Security) to understand and deliver stakeholdersā needs and priorities.
- Experience of clienting for large organisations, aligning deliverables against wider strategies and workforce requirements.
- Experience of working with senior leaders to plan, advise and support delivery of office accommodation projects.
- Managing expectations, making quick and well-judged decisions based on a sound understanding of client requirements and the business context.
