An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estates Maintenance Multi-Skilled Technician – Electrical Bias to join the Estates Maintenance Team at Mount Vernon Hospital.
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance across a wide range of electrical systems, plant, and infrastructure within a complex healthcare environment. Working as part of a multi-skilled Estates Maintenance team, the post holder will support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of critical engineering services that directly support patient care and hospital operations.
Whilst maintaining an electrical bias, the role also requires a practical working knowledge of mechanical building services systems, enabling the post holder to undertake first-line fault diagnosis, make-safe activities, and support service restoration during engineering incidents. The post holder will participate in the Estates Maintenance On-Call Duty Technician rota, providing out-of-hours response to emergency maintenance issues and infrastructure failures.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance across electrical systems, plant, and infrastructure.
- Diagnose faults, undertake repairs, and support the safe operation of critical engineering services.
- Act as a Competent Person (CP) for electrical systems in accordance with HTM 06, BS7671, and Trust procedures.
- Operate as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team, supporting both electrical and mechanical engineering services where appropriate. Undertake first-line fault diagnosis and make-safe activities relating to electrical, mechanical, and building services systems.
- Support the maintenance and resilience of critical infrastructure including electrical distribution, heating, water, ventilation, and steam-related systems.
- Participate in the Estates Maintenance On-Call Duty Technician rota, responding to emergency incidents and infrastructure failures outside normal working hours.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using CAFM systems and ensure compliance with statutory and Trust requirements.
- Support the Trust’s New Hospital Redevelopment Programme and wider Estates operational objectives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of Estates Maintenance services.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
