Estates Manager – Property & Strategic Assets - CK3632909

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estates or Property professional to lead the strategic management of a significant and diverse property portfolio on behalf of a well-established organisation with an important social purpose.
This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape long-term property strategy while leading a dedicated property team responsible for a substantial residential housing portfolio, commercial assets, agricultural land and strategic property interests.
Managing assets with a combined value in excess of £50 million, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the portfolio is maintained, enhanced and invested in effectively, while identifying opportunities to maximise value, improve sustainability and support long-term organisational objectives.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will provide strategic leadership across the organisation's property and estates function, overseeing both operational delivery and long-term asset management.
You will lead the development of investment strategies, capital programmes, acquisitions, disposals and sustainability initiatives while ensuring excellent service delivery to occupiers and stakeholders.
This is a varied leadership position that combines strategic estate management, commercial property, project delivery, investment planning and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the long-term strategy for a diverse residential, commercial and rural property portfolio.
- Lead and develop a high-performing property team, providing strategic direction and operational oversight.
- Oversee planned investment, maintenance and refurbishment programmes across a substantial residential estate.
- Drive acquisition, disposal and asset optimisation strategies to maximise long-term value.
- Identify development and investment opportunities across the wider property portfolio.
- Lead business cases, feasibility studies and due diligence for major property transactions.
- Manage external consultants, managing agents and professional advisers, ensuring high standards of performance and value.
- Oversee compliance with all relevant property legislation, governance requirements and health and safety obligations.
- Develop and manage multi-year capital investment plans and revenue budgets.
- Lead sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency improvements and Net Zero programmes across the estate.
- Prepare reports and strategic recommendations for senior leadership and governance boards.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, occupiers, external partners and professional advisers.

About You
This role will suit an experienced Estates Manager, Head of Property, Asset Manager or Chartered Surveyor looking for a strategic leadership position with significant responsibility and variety.
You are likely to have:
- Significant experience managing large and diverse property portfolios.
- A strong track record in strategic asset management, property investment and estate planning.
- Experience leading acquisitions, disposals and development opportunities.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing professional teams and external consultants.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience developing capital investment programmes and budgets.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence senior decision-makers.
- A thorough understanding of UK property legislation, landlord and tenant matters, compliance and governance.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience producing reports and business cases at Board level.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) is desirable but not essential.
- A full UK driving licence.
