Estates Multi-Skilled Operative
Band 3
The Estates multi-skilled maintenance operative has responsibility for day-to-day operational maintenance of the hospital environment at The Tameside General Hospital, including:
- Reactive and pre-planned maintenance tasks
- Collaboration where necessary with specialist contractors
Key Responsibilities

- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks
- Reactive works (including troubleshooting and emergency fixes)
The role requires a robust understanding of the operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) services, including:
- Engineering plant and equipment (HVAC, boilers, chillers, etc.)
- Electrical systems (applicable UK regulations and safety standards)
- Fire alarms and detection systems
- Specialist healthcare equipment
The ideal candidate can work independently and adaptably in a fast-paced, flexible environment, including:
- Completing tasks efficiently with proactivity
- Working outside traditional hours if required
- Using initiative to resolve issues
