Lymington Precision Engineers (LPE) is a Senior Flexonics Group company, and is a leading manufacturer of precision machined components, assemblies and kit sets for the Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Aerospace and Defence, Land and Sea Systems, Nuclear and Marine industries and emerging markets.

Job Description
Estimating Engineer - What does the job involve?
To provide technical support within LPE for the introduction of new products. Manage projects at the initial RFQ stage, liaising with subcontractors to understand their processes. Facilitate technical discussions with customers as required.

Hours of work: 39 hours per week.
- Core shift - Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.00am to 1.00pm with 30-minute break for lunch
Estimating Engineer - What will my responsibilities include?
- Key member of the estimating team assisting in the generation of new profitable business for the company.
- Ensuring the timely preparation and submission of quotations, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Strong knowledge of machining (CNC & Manual) with the ability to calculate cycle times, and knowledge of tooling, jigs and fixtures.
- Ability to identify a method of manufacture working from an engineering drawing.
- Identifying suitable suppliers and sub-contractors, developing strong relationships and ensuring competitive pricing.
- Investigate and research new, unfamiliar treatment processes to understand their application and suitability for products.
- Technical liaison with customers, supporting design for manufacture discussions.
- Participate in project review meetings, providing technical support to the Project Manager for both new and existing products, ensuring effective co-ordination with all relevant departments.
- Commercially aware ensuring new and existing products adhere to standard cost targets.
- Support the development, evaluation, implementation, and manufacturing through the APQP process, liaising with the Engineering, Quality, Production teams as well as suppliers prior to manufacturing commencing.
Estimating Engineer - What key skills and experience do I need?
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK (Essential)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a similar technical Role
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Work with the minimum of supervision
- To have a sound understanding of quality management systems - ISO9001 and AS9100, GS3001 standards
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Familiarity with machine capabilities machining techniques and strategies.
- Familiarity with sub-contract coatings and heat treatments.
- Good understanding with the machining of a wide range of materials.
- PC Skills – Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in Defence, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Aerospace. (Desirable)
- ERP Systems (IFS) experience. (Desirable)
- CAD/CAM experience for model interrogation assisting with quote preparation. (Desirable)
- Proven track record of quoting, winning and successfully introducing new components within a Precision Engineering business. (Desirable)

Qualifications
Estimating Engineer - What qualifications should I have?
- Basic O’ Level / GCSE Qualifications, technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ).
- Strong Mechanical Engineering background ideally HNC or higher (Desirable)
- Security Clearance (Desirable)
