Estimating Manager – Lightning Protection

Are you an experienced Estimator with a background in lightning protection and specialist power earthing? Are you ready to step into a leadership role where you can drive strategy, oversee major projects, and mentor a growing team?

Location: Unit 16-17 H2o Business Units, Lake View Drive, Annesley, Nottingham NG15 0HT

Salary: Competitive + 20% bonus + car allowance

The Role

As the Estimating Manager, you will be the technical lead and commercial driver for our estimating department in Nottingham. You will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of high-value quotations for major lightning protection, ensuring technical excellence across the board.

You will also lead and manage a small team of estimators, fostering accuracy, efficiency, and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of estimators, conducting regular performance reviews and ensuring the team meets departmental KPIs.
  • Directly oversee and produce quotations for major, complex, and high-value projects, ensuring they are technically sound and commercially competitive.
  • Monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and gross profit targets for the department, implementing strategies to exceed them.
  • Ensure all designs and quotations produced by the team comply with standards (e.g. BS EN 62305 and BS 7430).
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key clients, contractors, and consultants to secure repeat business.
  • Streamline the handover process from estimating to the contract management team to ensure seamless project execution.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a high-performing professional with a deep technical understanding of lightning protection, power earthing and a natural aptitude for leadership.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior estimating or management role within lightning protection, earthing, or specialist electrical engineering.
  • Deep knowledge of BS EN 62305 and BS 7430. An electrical engineering qualification or industry-recognised accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex schematics, drawings, and specifications to produce accurate quotes and estimates.
  • Ideally, experience in managing or mentoring a small team or individuals, with a focus on professional development.
  • A strong track record of securing profitable projects and hitting financial targets.
  • A full UK driving licence is required for occasional site visits and client meetings.
