Estimator
Our client is a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex and high-profile projects across the UK and Ireland. Operating across sectors including water, highways, utilities, environmental works, and infrastructure, they have secured a strong pipeline of work and are looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with the appointment of an Estimator.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business that is investing heavily in its civil engineering division and offering genuine long-term career progression.
The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive tenders for a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working closely with operational, planning, commercial, and design teams, you will play a key role in securing future work and supporting the continued growth of the business.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects ranging from local infrastructure improvements to major civil engineering schemes across Northern Ireland and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, programmes, and tender documentation.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Liaise with design, planning, commercial, and operational teams throughout the tender process.
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.
- Produce accurate take-offs and pricing schedules.
- Assist in developing tender strategies and bid submissions.
- Maintain cost databases and historical pricing information.
- Support handover meetings with project delivery teams following successful tenders.
About You
- Previous experience in an Estimator or Senior Estimator role within civil engineering or infrastructure.
- Experience pricing projects within sectors such as water, highways, utilities, energy, earthworks, or general civil engineering.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project delivery.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software packages.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous.
