Estimator – Bespoke Joinery & Furniture

Job Title: Estimator – Specialist Joinery & Woodworking

Office Based: Guildford (With potential for 1-2 days remote work)

Remuneration: £40,000 - £45,000neg

Benefits: Pension Scheme & Comprehensive benefits package

The Role

The role of Estimator – Specialist Joinery & Woodworking will involve:

  • Estimator position dealing with a high-end range of residential bespoke furniture & joinery projects (desks, panelling, upholstery, metals, furniture, cabinets, surfaces etc.)
  • Whilst predominantly an Estimator position the role will entail procurement responsibilities including; supplier sourcing, negotiation and some purchasing duties
  • Managing projects (typically based in London) from initial enquiry through to final quotation, ensuring accurate and commercially viable pricing
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to identify scope, materials, quantities and project requirements
  • Producing detailed take-offs, BOQs and quotations within required deadlines
  • Estimating material, labour, manufacturing and installation costs
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain costs for specialist materials and outsourced requirements
  • Working closely with designers, architects, clients and production teams throughout the estimating process
  • Providing technical support, answering client queries and maintaining strong relationships
  • Supporting project handovers and monitoring costs through to completion

  • Must have Estimating experience within the joinery, bespoke interior products, furniture, manufacturing or a closely related sector
  • Must have a good understanding of manufacturing processes, lead times and production scheduling
  • Highly advantageous to demonstrate commitment and longevity in previous roles
  • Beneficial to have experience with procurement or purchasing
  • Great technical knowledge and good understanding of industry processes, materials and costs
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good team player who also works well individually
