From architectural design to repairs, maintenance, and estates management, we're here for every stage of the property lifecycle, creating spaces that make a lasting difference.
Your new role:
As a Estimator at Arc Construction Services, you'll play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a diverse programme of construction projects across the public estate. From refurbishment and remodelling to compliance and improvement works, you'll help bring projects to life in environments such as schools, offices and other operational buildings.
Working closely with Commercial, Procurement and Operational teams, you'll support projects from early feasibility through to delivery—ensuring they are accurately priced, effectively procured and well-coordinated.
This is a varied and fast-paced role where you'll manage multiple projects at different stages, contributing to efficient project mobilisation and supporting high-quality outcomes across the council's estate and wider public sector portfolio.
What you'll do:
- Supporting the procurement of construction projects through framework agreements and tender processes, you'll prepare and issue enquiries, including mini-competitions and quality-based tenders.
- You'll collate, analyse and compare quotations from contractors and supply chain partners, and produce project pricing documentation, including prelim books, staffing costs and package information.
- You'll provide cost planning support for feasibility studies and early-stage project development as well as maintaining and updating project pipeline trackers to monitor progress across key delivery stages.
- You'll work closely with Project Managers, Operations and Commercial colleagues to support effective project planning and mobilisation.
- You'll actively contribute with procurement and the supply chain engagement, including performance discussions and market insights to support continuous improvement of pricing, procurement and tracking processes.
- As well as preparing reports, pricing data and procurement records to support governance and internal reporting. Whilst ensuring all activities comply with internal policy, framework requirements and procurement procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
