Our client, based in South Cambridge, is looking for an Estimator to join their team.

Job Description

The Estimator will be part of the joinery team and will be responsible for producing accurate and timely quotations. The Estimator will need to be able to recognise and act on cross-selling opportunities. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will play a central role in delivering excellent customer service to trade customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers and is looking to develop specialist knowledge within a growing business. Candidates will need to have their own transport to get to work due to the rural location.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Handling inbound enquiries from customers by telephone and email, providing accurate and timely quotations
  • Identifying cross-selling opportunities within customer enquiries and quotations, proactively introducing relevant products from our client’s wider range
  • Supporting the sales team with overflow call handling and order processing during busy periods
  • Following up quotations that have not converted to orders, contacting customers to progress opportunities
  • Maintaining accurate records of quotation activity on the company system; updating customer notes
  • Sending samples and product information to customers
  • Attending internal product and sales meetings to stay up to date with the range
  • Building product knowledge over time to handle more technical customer enquiries and spot cross-selling opportunities with confidence
  • Working closely with the sales team to support customers through the quotation and order process.

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing sales role
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.)
  • Comfortable and competent using PC software
  • A confident, professional telephone manner
  • Strong written communication skills
  • A proactive approach to quotation follow-up and customer development, including identifying cross-selling opportunities
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
  • Experience within a trade, construction, hardware or building products environment
  • Familiarity with CRM or sales systems
  • A genuine interest in developing specialist product knowledge over time.
