Estimator / Estimating Quantity Surveyor

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Additional: Car allowance or company vehicle

Location: Derby

Type: Full-time Permanent

Linsco are delighted to be working alongside a well-established, family-owned construction business who are looking to appoint an Estimator / Estimating Quantity Surveyor to join their growing Property Services division based in Derby.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering refurbishment, maintenance, and property improvement projects across the Midlands. Working within an experienced commercial team, you will play a key role in pricing projects, supporting project delivery, and ensuring commercial success from tender stage through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate estimates for refurbishment and property services projects up to GBP5m.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Price labour, plant, materials, and subcontract packages.
  • Support the commercial management of projects once on site.
  • Price and manage project variations.
  • Prepare subcontract orders and procurement packages.
  • Complete Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reporting for live projects.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist with maintaining project profitability and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as an Estimator, Estimating Quantity Surveyor, or Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Worked as an Estimator with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
  • Experience pricing refurbishment, maintenance, or general construction projects would be highly advantageous.
  • Good commercial awareness with an understanding of cost control and project financial management.
  • Experience dealing with subcontractors, supplier enquiries, and procurement.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative commercial team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (projects are generally within a 50-mile radius of the office).
