Estimator - Water & Civil Engineering

Location: Manchester
Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum + package
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 40 hours per week

Are you an experienced Estimator with a background in water, utilities or heavy civil engineering projects?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established infrastructure business delivering major civil engineering projects across the UK water sector. Working within an experienced bid and pre-construction team, you'll play a key role in securing new work across a diverse portfolio of projects including pipelines, tunnelling, shafts, MEICA, rail civils and groundworks.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates for complex infrastructure projects. Working closely with bid managers, planners, procurement teams and operational stakeholders, you'll contribute to the successful delivery of tender submissions and framework opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Review and interpret PQQ and ITT documentation.
  • Complete quantity take-offs and review Bills of Quantities.
  • Develop risk, opportunity and key assumptions registers.
  • Work closely with planning, operational and commercial teams to develop delivery methodologies.
  • Prepare and present estimate adjudication packs.
  • Support tender clarifications and customer negotiations.
  • Liaise with procurement throughout the estimating process.
  • Provide detailed handovers to delivery teams following contract award.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
