About Northland Controls
Northland Controls is seeking a well-qualified Estimator, located in Letchworth, UK. As an Estimator, you’ll be at the heart of our business development and project success. You’ll work cross-functionally with Design, PMO, and Procurement teams to create accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex physical security systems. Your ability to translate technical specifications into comprehensive proposals will directly influence project wins, client satisfaction, and long-term partnerships.

What you will love about this job

Responsibilities
- Lead cost estimating for integrated physical security projects.
- Analyze design documents (drawings, specs, narratives) to produce precise estimates.
- Respond to RFPs/RFQs with complete cost models, BOMs, and value-engineered alternatives.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers to optimize system designs for cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with PMO to align estimates with project timelines and deliverables.
- Source and validate pricing from vendors and support Procurement in finalizing bids.
- Maintain and improve estimating tools, templates, and pricing databases.
- Identify and mitigate risks, gaps, and ambiguities in scope or estimates.
- Participate in pre- and post-bid reviews for ongoing accuracy improvement.
Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years estimating physical security, electrical, low-voltage, or infrastructure projects.
- Large-scale and competitive bid experience preferred.
Technical Knowledge
- Deep understanding of access control, video surveillance, and network-based security technologies.

Tools Proficiency
- Microsoft Office, ERP platforms (SAP or NetSuite), and ideally familiarity with AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
Certifications (Nice to Have)
- Vendor certifications such as Lenel S2, Genetec, Milestone, HID, Mercury, Avigilon, etc.

Reporting
- No direct reports, but provides vital input to multiple internal teams.
Work Authorization
- Must be authorized to work in the country of employment.
Travel
- Occasional (up to 20%) for site walks, client visits, or training.
