About Artic Building Services Ltd
Artic Building Services Ltd is an established and recognised leader within the M&E and Facilities Management sector. Via our standards and reputation within this industry we have successfully attained a solid foundation of varied blue-chip clients, both commercial and public. The department's central figurehead for all tendering opportunities and output, together with the winning of and handover of awarded works within the Project Management team.
Skills Required
- Technically Electrically biased knowledge, but awareness of all core M&E works.
- Ability to deal with people across a broad spectrum of skills and levels.
- Advanced organisational and time management skills.
- A high level of drive and energy, proactive and self-motivated.
- Adept with estimating and winning projects up to £2M.
- Full understanding of NEC/JCT Contract and other standard construction forms of contract.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience within an M&E Projects-led environment.
Job Duties
- Strictly apply the requirements of the ABSL Projects "Bid No Bid" protocols, escalating to management any queries.
- Prepare all required project-related estimates by reviewing/gathering contract detail, drawings, specifications and any other related documents, including on-site attendance.
- Manage all estimate deadlines in a priority and organised method.
- Evaluate and highlight any operational and commercial risk before agreeing to proceed, following the requirements of the bid/no bid process.
- Ensure full bid submission compliance — all tenders submitted on time, in the correct format, and meeting all client/contract requirements. Any non-compliance or risk of late submission must be escalated immediately to Tom Griffiths.
- Maintain and report on bid submission compliance metrics, including submission rates, on-time delivery, and win/loss outcomes, providing regular updates to the Commercial & Programme Manager.
- Using Amtech, identify and detail — in a transparent and modular method — all labour, material, specialist and time requirements, offering the most compliant scope and cost whilst achieving desired margins per job.
- Using our management software, Monday.com, weekly updates as owner of bids, with support to other owners as required.
- Offer variant or value-engineered bids as and when required.
- Create depth to our Sub Contractor and Supply Chain by challenging the current base and introducing skilled alternatives.
- Enhance our current costing database to be more uniform and applicable to size/type of works in a "packaged" manner.
- At inception of any accepted project, ensure the company Project "Handover and Mobilisation Checklist" is completed to the required standard.
- During handover, detail any possible opportunities for contract variations or specific contract risk items to the Project Management team.
- Support with all Health and Safety issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
