Energy Estimator – Spider is recruiting on behalf of a growing construction energy company
Our client, a growing construction energy company based in Basildon, Essex, is looking for an Energy Estimator to join their rapidly expanding team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic environment operating across the construction, infrastructure, energy, mechanical, and electrical sectors. You’ll play a key role in securing and delivering major electrical infrastructure projects.

About the Role
As an Energy Estimator, you’ll secure profitable work by:
- Producing accurate, commercially viable tenders across a range of electrical infrastructure and energy projects.
- Collaborating closely with quantity surveyors, designers, and operational teams.
- Supporting bids for EV charging infrastructure, utility connections, private networks, substations, diversions, and civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities
- Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and technical documentation to generate precise cost estimates and submissions.
- Coordinate supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring pricing risks and assumptions are effectively documented and clarified.
- Develop high-caliber written tender responses, methodology statements, and client questionnaires to strengthen bid success.
- Maintain up-to-date pricing databases and rate libraries to enhance estimating accuracy.
- Manage multiple deadlines while liaising across clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ensure clear project handover with documentation of assumptions, exclusions, risks, and commercial aspects to delivery teams.
About You
The ideal candidate has:
- Relevant estimating experience in:
- Utilities, electrical infrastructure
- Construction, civil engineering
- Energy projects
- ICP/Street Works
- HV/LV infrastructure or comparable sectors
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to interpret technical documentation and specifications.

- Advanced Excel skills and experience with estimating software
- Clear verbal/written communication for exactitude and collaboration

- Knowledge of utility connections, contestable works, asset adoption, streetworks permits, and reinstatement requirements
