Estonian Quality Assurance Lead – Remote Contract Role
About the Role
In this fast-paced, remote contractor position, you will serve as the Estonian Quality Assurance Lead, overseeing quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Estonian AI training projects. Your responsibilities include:
- Reviewing AI-generated Estonian content and trainer/QA work
- Evaluating output quality against project guidelines, ensuring accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, and instruction compliance
- Providing precise written feedback on formatting and adherence to project-specific rubrics
- Identifying recurring quality issues (e.g., mistranslations, literal phrasing, awkward tone, incorrect case usage, missing diacritics)
- Communicating updates to trainers and QAs on expectations
- Supporting onboarding and contributor activation for those falling behind
- Maintaining high standards in Estonian language workflows
This opportunity is with a growing AI data services company, tasking with delivering training data for leading AI companies. As Estimonian language quality expert, you’ll help improve AI models by ensuring accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate content.
Note: No immediate project is available, but qualified candidates will be first contacted for future openings within their expert network.

Your Profile
Essential Requirements:
- Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Estonian, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field
- Estonian Proficiency: Native or near-native (reading & writing), with deep understanding of:
- Grammar, spelling
- Punctuation & diacritics
- Case endings, compounds, word order
- Tone, register, and cultural context
- English Skills: Fluent (writing & communication) for documenting guidelines, providing global guidance on project workflows
- Work Experience: 3+ years in professional Estonian-related fields like writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, annotation, or training workflows
- Rubric Compliance: Strong ability to evaluate content against complex rubrics, detecting flaws such as:
- Misinterpretations, literal phrasing, robotic/cultural awkwardness, incorrect case/formatting, unnatural responses)
Preferred but not mandatory:
- Leadership of or support for remote teams (trainers, annotators, QAs)
- Tools experience: Discord, Google Sheets/Docs, project trackers (e.g., Trello, Asana), or rubric-based LLM evaluation
- Hands-on knowledge of AI training, data annotation, or prompt-response evaluations

Key Responsibilities

Quality Monitoring & Reporting
- Spot-check Estonian project items, flagging recurring quality gaps
- Use DMs/ workplace channels to share suggestions and escalate critical issues

Stakeholder Communication
- Update trainers & QAs on workflow updates via Discord or equivalent
- Quickly respond to queries on tone, terminology, case use, components, and cultural/fidelity rules

Trainer/QA Management
- Initiate direct messaging for inactive contributors
- Track activation follow-ups, ensuring reliable participation

Documentation Maintenance
- Author & update documentation such as:
- Style guides, FAQs
- Issue trackers
- Onboarding guides
- Honeypot samples for AI testing

- Project expectations
- Workflow processes
- Rubric and quality expectations
