Senior eTrading Strategist - Rates Focused (Global Markets)

Role Overview

We are a Rates-focused eTrading Strategies team with global operations in London, New York, and Tokyo. Our core responsibilities include:

  • Developing and operating autonomous trading strategies.
  • Building eBooks (electronic dealer books).
  • Creating pricing models for client and interdealer electronic platforms.

About the Role

You are a confident, self-motivated quant/strategist with a deep understanding of electronic markets. Key traits include:

  • Client focus: Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the bank.
  • Agile motivation: Comfortable working in a small, self-organising team with an emphasis on iterative improvement.
  • Ownership mindset: Track record of delivering high-impact products to demanding clients.
  • Fixed Income expertise: Proficiency in cash and derivatives markets to develop reliable, intuitive trading platforms.

Key Objectives Critical to Success

We seek an innovative and experienced eTrading Strategist to:

  • Design and develop sophisticated algorithmic trading strategies leveraging quantitative methods and statistical analysis.
  • Implement and optimise high-frequency execution algorithms to improve trading efficiency and minimise market impact.
  • Analyse market microstructure and develop predictive models for short-term price movements.
  • Collaborate with quants, developers, and traders to ensure ideas are production-ready.
  • Continuously monitor and adapt trading strategies in real time.
  • Conduct research on emerging market inefficiencies.
  • Stay compliant with regulatory changes.
  • Strengthen relationships with electronic trading venues.
  • Contribute to the firm’s evolving electronic trading infrastructure through innovation.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience in electronic trading or related financial market roles.
  • Proficiency in C++, Java, or Python, with an understanding of low-latency environments.
  • Deep expertise in market microstructure, order types, and exchange connectivity.
  • Comfortable with statistical analysis and machine learning.
  • Practical experience in high-frequency trading (HFT) or algorithmic execution strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving ability for fast-paced conditions.
  • Excellence in quantitative analysis and creativity in strategy development.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Team collaboration skills to thrive in agile environments.
  • Adaptability to evolving market conditions and technical advancements.
  • Unwavering commitment to market integrity and ethical standards.

Preferred Experience

  • Fluency in types of assets including: Rates, equities, derivatives, FX and commodities.
  • Knowledge of market-making techniques and risk management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations (e.g. MiFID II, Reg NMS).
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with KDB or similar time-series technology.
