Responsibilities
The EMEA Tax team is building to work with other corporate functions on tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy. We ensure compliance with direct and indirect tax and solve tax related issues.
Role overview:
The EUI Direct Tax Lead would be leading all direct tax matters across Europe & International. Reporting to the EMEA Director of Tax & Treasury and operating within the wider International Tax Team, this role combines strategic influence with operational depth.
This is a strategic leadership position in a fast-moving technology environment. The role combines business partnership, tax governance, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will translate business strategy into clear tax actions, manage risk in evolving regulatory landscapes, and build a scalable tax framework that supports innovation and expansion.
Beyond technical expertise, this role requires sound judgment, the ability to break down complex issues into practical solutions, and the leadership capability to develop a strong regional team aligned to business priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the direct tax strategy across EUI, aligning with global tax policy and regional business objectives.
- Translate business strategies and operational priorities into actionable tax initiatives.
- Oversee corporate income tax, WHT and DST compliance and reporting across all EUI jurisdictions.
- Lead quarterly and annual tax provision processes (IFRS / UK FRS / relevant local GAAP) and manage effective tax rate forecasting.
- Ensure consistent implementation of global transfer pricing policies and documentation standards.
- Identify, assess, and manage tax risks across the region, including higher-complexity markets such as Turkey and Central Asia.
- Supporting the EMEA Tax Controversy Manager on tax audits and controversy matters, providing clear direction to team members in situations involving competing priorities.
- Maintain a strong internal control and governance framework aligned with EMEA Tax Framework and Global Tax policy.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and scalable tax infrastructure to support business growth.
- Take a holistic view across systems, structures, and financial processes to identify optimization opportunities.
- Grow and maintain a high-performing regional direct tax team, coaching key contributors toward greater ownership and impact.
- Foster effective cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Government Relation/Public and Policy.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Significant progressive direct tax experience in multinational corporate environments or large reputable professional services firms, with a significant focus on international retax matters.
- Proven knowledge of corporate income tax, international tax, transfer pricing and cross-border compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop team members, driving high performance and accountability.
- Able to analyse complex legislative landscapes, interpret impacts and recommend commercially sound solutions.
- Clear, concise communicator capable of distilling complex technical issues for senior stakeholders and non-tax audiences.
- Experience managing tax obligations and risk in multiple jurisdictions, including exposure to emerging or high-complexity markets.
- Pragmatic, business-oriented thinker with the ability to make sound decisions in ambiguous environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA/ACCA, CPA or equivalent) highly desirable.
- Experience in high-growth, innovation-driven organisations is a strong plus.
- Thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments with competing priorities and evolving regulatory change.
