About the Role
As part of their ambitious strategy to redefine international money management, Wise is seeking a EU Investments Lead based in the London office. We’re a global technology company dedicated to simplifying cross-border financial transactions with minimal fees, maximum ease, and full speed.
In this role, you’ll oversee the geographical expansion of Assets, a groundbreaking financial product allowing customers to hold assets like stocks and bonds while enjoying instant access and spend functionality. By working closely with Wise’s Grow Squad—the team driving a suite of global investment and savings products—you will:
- Shape the product vision
- Establish regulatory pathways
- Build critical commercial partnerships

Key Responsibilities
Business Strategy & Expansion
- Drive the rollout of Assets in new international markets within Europe.
- Analyze optimal routes to market, taking into account:
- Diverse customer needs across regions
- Product functionality requirements
- Regulatory and legal challenges
Regulatory & Licensing
- Lead the end-to-end process for obtaining regulatory licenses in new markets.
- Draft high-stakes submissions and license applications from scratch, ensuring compliance from the outset.

Strategic Partnerships
- Identify, negotiate, and on-board partnerships with:
- Local custodians
- Brokerage firms
- Clearing partners
- Ensure seamless investment experiences and align operational processes with commercial goals.
- Expand global investment fund range across currencies and jurisdictions through deep collaboration with existing market partners.
Operationalisation & Rollout
- Bridge the gap between central product/engineering teams and regional expansion leads (in APAC and Americas).
- Translate global ambitions into actionable local strategies, making necessary adjustments to suit regional markets.
- Act as the single anchor point, ensuring consistency and scalability across all new markets.
Requirements & Qualifications
Core Experience
- Proven investment management or fintech expansion experience, with:
- Track record in navigating complex regulatory environments.
- A passion for transforming financial services through innovation.
Practical & Compliance Skills
- "Doer" mindset: Thrives in a high-growth environment, ready to unblock issues autonomously.
- Regulatory expertise: Comfortable deep-diving into documentation and roadmapping license applications.
- Willingness to pass industry-standard exams (e.g., CIRO, FCA, FINRA, or local equivalents) when required.
- Strong commercial acumen: Understands product operations, risks, and entry strategies—balancing finance, strategy, and execution.

Strategic Understanding
- Deep knowledge of EU’s investment services regulation, ability to interpret rulebooks and translate into tactical strategies. (think FCA, MiFID II, or similar gatekeepers)
- Flexibility to engage as needed (10–20% international travel).
