Job Title: Head of STA & Tides Business Development and Project Management Europe
About the Role
The incumbent will lead a team to foster business relationships and generate revenue with prospective and existing clients for WuXi TIDES, a WuXi AppTec company. The role primarily focuses on supporting the growth of the rapidly expanding oligonucleotide and peptide (O&P) Contract Research, Development, and Manufacture (CDMO) business.
This position will:
- Collaborate closely with Europe and global business development leaders to identify new business leads, resolve critical challenges, and address customer inquiries
- Support marketing efforts in delivering content and driving the success of new and existing services
- Lead the TIDES Discovery European business development team and manage key collaborations spanning research to early-phase clinical development
- Work with WuXi AppTec’s other business development teams and senior management to refine and implement the most effective discovery sales strategies in Europe
- Report directly to the VP, Head of STA & TIDES Business Development and Project Management, Europe
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Lead and develop a team focused on acquiring new oligonucleotide and peptide drug discovery clients for the TIDES CDMO platform
- Build and expand strategic key account relationships across Europe
- Represent TIDES at conferences, client meetings, and industry events, including conducting presentations across in-person and digital channels
- Oversee end-to-end business development, from lead generation (sales & marketing) to qualification and conversion
- Enhance market presence through webinars, tradeshows, seminars, and targeted outreach
- Monitor industry dynamics (funding, M&A, licensing, regulatory trends, patents, and drug pipelines) to identify commercial opportunities

Strategy & Performance
- Develop and execute quarterly business development strategies, alongside tracking performance KPIs
- Strengthen an industry network (including LinkedIn and stakeholder engagement)
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
- Ensure accurate CRM management of leads, accounts, and pipeline activities
- Provide competitive intelligence and recommendations for future service development
- Act as a key liaison for cross-functional alignment and senior leadership support, including addressing crisis or business continuity situations
- Support international partner engagements (focus on Europe, China, and other key regions) and client visits
Qualifications & Requirements
Professional Experience
- 15+ years of experience in a Contract Research Organisation (CRO), with a proven track record in team leadership and business impact
- Strong scientific background and expertise in drug discovery and development
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading international, high-performing teams, including engagement with senior-level stakeholders
Education
- Advanced degree in Life Sciences or Pharmaceuticals (master’s degree required; PhD preferred)
Key Skills & Competencies
- Demonstrated success in driving sales growth, business development, or managing complex multi-project environments
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders effectively
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written) with a high level of professionalism
- Self-driven, highly motivated, adaptable, and capable of performing effectively in complex and dynamic environments
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) preferred
- Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities in complex business scenarios
