Our client is a well-established and growing freight forwarding business based in Dartford, specialising in European road transport. Renowned for service delivery and operational excellence, they rely on a network of owner drivers and subcontractors to provide reliable, cost-effective logistics solutions across the UK and mainland Europe.
Due to continued growth, they require a European Transport Planner to join their operations team.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate collections and deliveries across the UK and Europe
- Allocate work to a network of owner drivers and subcontractors
- Maximise vehicle utilisation while minimising empty runs
- Monitor delivery schedules and proactively resolve operational issues
- Build and maintain strong partner relationships with logistics providers
- Ensure all transport activities maintain commercial viability and cost-efficiency
- Support revenue growth through strategic freight forwarding opportunities
- Maintain accurate operational data, pricing structures, and system updates
- Handle invoice queries and assist in KPI reporting
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in road freight operations or transport planning
- Strong knowledge of UK and European transport networks
- Outstanding organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and profitability

Desired but not essential:
- Experience in European road freight planning
- Exposure to owner driver and subcontractor networks
- Familiarity with key European markets (e.g., Benelux, France, Italy)
- Understanding of freight forwarding and margin management
