EUS Engineer

  • Job Title: EUS Engineer – R&D Lab Support
  • Location: Oxford, UK
  • Experience: 4 to 7 years

We are seeking a highly skilled EUS Engineer – R&D Lab Support to provide mission-critical on-site IT support for R&D labs and engineering environments. This role is pivotal in ensuring high availability, security, and reliability of lab systems, instrument PCs, engineering workstations, and Intune-managed endpoints that support research, testing, and validation activities.


Key Responsibilities

R&D Lab & Engineering IT Support

  • Provide end-to-end IT support for R&D lab environments, including:
    • Instrument PCs
    • Test benches
    • DAQ systems
    • Engineering workstations
  • Install, configure, validate, and troubleshoot:
    • Instrument/OEM software
    • Drivers
    • Firmware
    • Calibration tools
  • Ensure seamless and secure connectivity between lab instruments, test systems, and engineering endpoints
  • Support specialised lab peripherals and operate within restricted/secured lab networks while maintaining compliance

End-User Services & Site IT Operations

  • Own day-to-day on-site IT operations
  • Act as the first escalation point for critical incidents
  • Ensure IT readiness for:
    • Onboarding devices
    • System access
    • Accessories
  • Coordinate with internal IT teams and external vendors for timely issue resolution

Endpoint, Intune & OS Management

  • Enroll, configure, and manage devices using Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager
  • Deploy:
    • Applications
    • Scripts
    • Drivers
    • OS updates
  • Monitor:
    • Compliance
    • Device health
  • Support:
    • Windows Autopilot
    • OS reset
    • Provisioning workflows
  • Build, maintain, and version-control golden OS images for:
    • Lab systems
    • Engineering systems
  • Perform OS and BIOS-level:
    • System hardening
    • Patching
    • Vulnerability remediation

Infrastructure & Network Support

  • Manage:
    • Active Directory users
    • Groups
    • OUs
    • GPOs
    • Access controls
  • Troubleshoot:
    • DNS
    • DHCP
    • File shares
    • NTFS permissions
  • Resolve:
    • LAN/Wi-Fi issues
    • IP conflicts
    • VLAN connectivity problems (in coordination with network teams)

IT Asset, Documentation & Training

  • Maintain inventory and lifecycle management of:
    • Engineering laptops
    • Desktops
    • Lab systems
    • Peripherals
  • Conduct periodic:
    • System audits
    • Physical audits
    • Warranty and AMC tracking
  • Create and maintain:
    • SOPs
    • Installation guides
    • Recovery procedures
    • User documentation
  • Provide:
    • IT guidance
    • Security awareness training
    • to engineers and lab users

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in:
    • End-User Services
    • IT Support
    • Preferably in R&D, lab, or manufacturing environments
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Intune
    • Entra ID
    • Exchange
    • SharePoint
    • Active Directory
    • DNS
    • GPO
    • OS imaging
    • Endpoint security
  • Experience supporting:
    • Engineering systems
    • Lab/test equipment
