  • Base Salary: £32,500 | Monday to Friday only

About the Role

Our Evening & Night Chef (operating 4:30pm–1am, Monday to Friday) is a pivotal role for those who thrive in high-energy, culinary environments. This is the perfect opportunity for a chef hungry to sculpt their career and be part of a passionate team that places talent and flavour at the heart of everything.

Your challenge:

  • Lead night service, where precision and pace are key.
  • Collaborate with our head chef to evolve menus, refine techniques, and push culinary creativity.
  • Empower junior chefs through mentorship—because talent thrives when fostered.
  • Administer stations like a pro, ensuring precision, efficiency, and excellence in every dish.

Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Food Preparation:

    • Create impeccable dishes from assigned recipes, adhering unflinchingly to taste, texture, and presentation standards.
    • Prioritise food safety at all times—health and hygiene are non-negotiable.
  • Station Management:

    • Oversee station workflow for seamless production during shifts.
    • Maintain organisational order—supplies, tools, and cleanliness must align with company policies.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Uphold rigorously high standards—discounted for impatience. Taste, presentation, and consistency are your cornerstones.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Communicate clearly with colleagues, offering support, camaraderie, and guidance.
    • Coach junior chefs, nurturing their skills and confidence in the kitchen.
  • Menu Innovation:

    • Partner with the head chef to test, refine, and suggest improvements/revolutionary ideas.
    • Infuse stations with fresh creations while respecting team expertise.
  • Kitchen Excellence:

    • Ensure absolute cleanliness—work areas, equipment, and tools must meet BaxterStorey’s pristine standards.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Commis Chef (or analogous culinary role).
  • Mastery of diverse cuisines and techniques—comfort with stir-fry, roasts, and precision plating included.
  • Deep understanding of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
  • Fast-reflex adaptability—this isn’t a 9-to-5, but a high-octane shift where dinner waits for no one.
  • Competitive focus, attention to meticulous detailing, and -fi ring organisational chaos.
  • Humility and enthusiasm—techniques old (and new) can always be honed.
  • Demonstrable alignment with BaxterStorey’s core values (visionary, positive, collaborative, and conscious).
