The Role

Evening Room Attendant
Reporting To
Executive Housekeeper
Salary
£18.60 per hour (including service charge)
Core Purpose
To ensure rooms and public areas meet our five-star luxury standards, exceeding guest expectations with meticulous attention to detail. Roles will expand to include public areas, laundry, and cloakroom duties.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Guest Room & Public Area Service
- Prepare and manage guest bedrooms, ensuring minibar restocking (glasses, mugs, cutlery) and adherence to occupancy/discharge standards
- Conduct proactive turn-down service (17:00–22:00) with personalised guest touches
- Laundry & garment handling:
- Secure processing of guest garments (dry cleaning, pressing)
- Repair minor garments/uniforms (sewing, small alterations)
- Manage linen storage and quality checks
- Maintenance & Safety:
- Alert management to cleaning/maintenance issues and follow corrective procedures
- Audit occupied/move-out rooms against service standards
- Handle master room keys safely per security protocols

Cloakrooms, Valet & Guest Assistance
- Operate guest cloakrooms efficiently
- Support room changes, luggage handling, and direction-giving
- Mediaise any lost/stolen items with The Savoy’s security team
Public Areas Care
- Deep clean hallways, staircases, lifts, and toilets
- Monitor supplies (soaps, towels) for consistent service levels
Customer Experience & Growth
Build relationships through engaging conversations and foresight, such as anticipating guest needs without being asked.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- Ability to lift/carry up to 10kg/hydraulically assistance
- High adaptability (manage unintentional calls-offs; work multishifts)
- Keen problem-solving/observation**
- In-person communication skills (positive demeanour; prone to repeat work)
- Willingness to progress beyond core room duties

Desirable (Nigel Bonus for Savvy Applicants)
- Minimum 1 year in hospitality with 6 months in housekeeping
- Fluency with use-matter-covered cleaning equipment
- Flexibility for additional hours even on weekends
- Open *staff awareness to any updates/at least formation-wish-to-be

Term & Selection Process
