About The Role
This varied role requires an Event Manager with strong, all round experience in managing small to mid-range size events. Our events are varied and can consist of group flight only bookings to full onsite event management, therefore the willingness to understand all areas of the department is crucial. This diverse role requires a team player with excellent event management experience along with strong relationship, communication and commercial skills and the ability to project manage numerous events at once, ensuring exceptional service to our clients at all times.
What You'll Do
- Manage a portfolio of clients ensuring retention and growth at all opportunities
- Manage specific client event budgets, ensuring agreed profitability through careful negotiation and commercial knowledge
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and Events team to offer a seamless and professional service to our clients
- Liaising with the group travel team on requirements
- Lead events from conception through to delivery
- Identify opportunities to increase the value of existing and new business
- To work with the team to build, maintain and confirm a healthy pipeline of events in line with Reed & Mackay business strategy
- Support team members with a view to achieving objectives and supporting a continual development ethos
- Innovate initiatives to capture client feedback designed to improve service and process
- Endeavour to become a centre of excellence with respect to client satisfaction
- Have a working knowledge of health and safety law and the impact it has on Reed & Mackay Events Department. Conduct/co-ordinate hotel/venue risk assessments where appropriate
- Be budget focused and continually look at ways to achieve client cost savings
- Maximise Reed & Mackay profit at every opportunity

What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in logistics for a variety of events including (but not limited to): Group Accommodation, Meetings, Offsite Events, Team Building Activities, Conferences, Venue Find
- Excellent business development skills – ability to identify up sell opportunities and secure future business
- Excellent product knowledge and awareness of U.K. and overseas properties, ground handlers and destinations
- Strong supplier knowledge and relationships
- Positive people skills – ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers alike
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Good business acumen and commercial awareness
- Good mentor and coaching skills
- Effective influencing skills
- Always maintain a client perspective
- Ability to lead an event and direct client decision making
- Self-motivated – create a sense of enthusiasm and enjoyment that is evident to colleagues
- Proven ability to succeed in pressurized multi-tasking environment
- Proficient use of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential
- Strong client facing and presentation skills
- Identifies commercial risks and opportunities and escalates as appropriate
- Financial management: ensuring accurate budgeting and invoicing throughout event
- Ensure all KPIs and SLAs are consistently met
- Understanding of event/delegate management software package (especially Cvent or EventsForce)
