Events and Communications Officer
Salary: £28,597–£35,532 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience
Hours: 21 hours per week
Location: Glasgow – Hybrid working
Contract: Fixed-term until September 2027

Overview
Our client is an independent charitable organisation working to improve health and social care across Scotland. Its work supports disabled people, people living with long-term conditions and unpaid carers, helping ensure their voices, rights and lived experience shape policy, services and support.
They are seeking an experienced Events and Communications Officer to raise the profile of their work and engage diverse audiences across Scotland.
This varied role combines event management, communications, content creation and stakeholder engagement. You will lead the planning and delivery of accessible online and in-person events, support communications campaigns, create engaging digital content and help demonstrate the impact of the organisation’s programmes.
The position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful, purpose-led work while developing experience across events, media relations, digital communications, website management and campaign delivery.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and deliver accessible online, hybrid and in-person events.
- Manage event administration, including scheduling, registrations, communications, venues, speakers and event materials.
- Ensure events are inclusive, accessible and welcoming to a wide range of participants.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on event performance, attendance, feedback and outcomes.
- Support the development and delivery of communications campaigns.
- Create clear and engaging content for websites, newsletters, reports, promotional materials and digital platforms.
- Produce and schedule social media content across platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Help showcase the impact of programmes, projects and organisational activity.
- Support media relations and contribute to press releases, media enquiries and promotional activity.
- Maintain and update website content, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and current.
- Assist with the creation of video, photography and other digital content.
- Build positive relationships with colleagues, partners, speakers, attendees and external stakeholders.
- Engage audiences through creative, interactive and inclusive communication methods.
- Support the production of reports, presentations and campaign materials.
- Explore appropriate opportunities for sponsorship and partnership support.
- Contribute to wider organisational activities and work collaboratively across teams.
- Follow organisational policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements
Essential
- Experience administering, developing and overseeing events.
- Experience monitoring and evaluating events and using feedback to inform improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience engaging people through interactive and creative approaches.
- A strong commitment to equality, inclusion and non-discrimination.
- Good understanding of accessibility requirements in events and communications.
- Ability to work effectively, collaboratively and creatively as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Competence using word-processing software, email, online platforms and databases.
- Proficiency using social media, particularly Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate and audience-appropriate content.
Desirable
- Degree-level education or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
- Understanding of how long-term health conditions can affect people’s lives.
- Experience securing sponsorship or developing external partnerships.
Additional requirement: Membership of the relevant safeguarding and disclosure scheme is required for this role.
