About Rainbows
Rainbows provides expert end-of-life and palliative care for babies, children, and young people across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire. Last year, we supported 1,000 babies, children, and young people, alongside approximately 3,000 family members, including siblings, carers, and parents. We are committed to brightening short lives and supporting families wherever they are.
This vital work depends on a dedicated Income Generation and Marketing Team, covering fundraising, events, communications, and supporter engagement. The team ensures Rainbows continues to deliver outstanding care and support through income and awareness-raising.
We are excited to announce an opportunity for an Events Coordinator to join our Events Team, who organise philanthropic fundraising and supporter events for Rainbows.
Working Hours & Location
Full-time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based at our Lark Rise Hospice in Loughborough. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support events.

About the Role
As an Events Coordinator, you will assist the Senior Events Officer in spearheading fundraising and awareness-raising events. Your responsibilities include coordinating a range of established and new events – such as the Derby Cathedral Abseil, the Santa Run, and the Skydive – designed to maximize income, participant engagement, and awareness for babies, children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Event Organisation
- Assist the Senior Events Officer in delivering fundraising events.
- Plan, organise, and execute events to meet or exceed income and engagement targets.
- Manage budgets to ensure optimal return on investment (ROI).
Supporter Experience Management
- Coordinate supporter journeys from registration to event day.
- Ensure participants receive timely information and a meaningful experience.
- Support fundraising processes before, during, and after events.
Financial & KPI Management
- Maintain accurate records, including financials, participant data, and KPI monitoring.
- Track event performance and provide reports for the Senior Events Officer.
Cross-Department & Third-Party Collaboration
- Work alongside suppliers, volunteers, and in-house colleagues to ensure event and operational success.
- Contribute to both Rainbows-hosted and third-party events.

Marketing & Promotion Support
- Collaborate with the Marketing, Corporate and Community Fundraising teams to ensure participation targets are hit.
Risk Management
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for each event.
- Escalate concerns and implement mitigation plans as necessary.

About You
We’re seeking a driven, committed professional with the following:
- Proven experience in event planning and coordination.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multitasking and conflicting priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM database management.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail in an administrative capacity.
- Quebec-valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the region.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
