Events Supervisor – IET at Searcys

About the Role

Searcys, the oldest caterer in the UK (est. 1847), is offering an opportunity to join as an Event Floor Supervisor with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

You will oversee the overall coordination and profitability of events, supporting Managers, leading teams during events, and ensuring seamless delivery of food & beverage and event operations. Your expertise will also aid the front-of-house team while briefing staff for event execution.

The IET, a leading professional engineering institution, traces its roots to two historic bodies:

  • The Institution of Electrical Engineers (formed 1871)
  • The Institution of Incorporated Engineers (formed 1884)

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure events are set up and delivered on time according to event sheets.
  • Liasise with kitchen and Events teams to guarantee smooth event execution.
  • Conduct short- and long-term event planning and management.
  • Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits across all event areas.
  • Lead team members to cultivate lasting customer relationships while meeting sales targets.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications & experience:

  • 1+ year in event management
  • A thorough understanding of meeting and event management (from conception to completion)
  • Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced, creative environment under pressure
  • Meticulous organisation and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Adaptability with a solution-focused mindset
  • Strong strategic thinking and critical reasoning
  • A positive, composed energy, alongside being self-directed, humble, and team-oriented
