About Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care
Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care is a North East charity providing free transport for cancer patients to and from hospital treatment across the region. Every year, our volunteer drivers travel hundreds of thousands of miles, helping to remove one of the barriers people face when accessing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Events Fundraising Officer to join our growing Income Generation team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver a varied portfolio of fundraising events, challenge events, community activities and supporter-led fundraisers that generate vital income and raise awareness of our life-changing work.
Working closely with the Head of Income Generation, you will help shape and grow our events fundraising programme, develop strong supporter relationships, identify new opportunities and ensure every participant receives an outstanding fundraising experience.
We are looking for someone who is organised, ambitious and passionate about making a difference. Whether you already have significant events fundraising experience or are looking to take the next step in your fundraising career, we would love to hear from you.

- Manage event logistics, suppliers, venues and relationships to ensure a high-quality participant experience.

- Build strong relationships with participants, supporters, volunteers and fundraising champions.
- Motivate and inspire supporters to maximise their fundraising potential.
- Ensure timely acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship of supporters.
- Capture participant stories and case studies to demonstrate impact and encourage future support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
