Events Officer

Events Production Coordinator | ZSL (London Zoo & Whipsnade Zoo)

Join ZSL’s dynamic Events Team and play a key role in bringing unforgettable experiences to life across our two world-renowned conservation zoos. From large-scale seasonal spectaculars to engaging visitor events, this exciting role sits at the heart of planning and delivering a diverse and ambitious events programme.


About the Role

Working closely with Event Team Leads, you will help coordinate the logistics, people, resources, and contractors that make our events a success. You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Take ownership of projects
  • Contribute creative ideas
  • Support live event delivery on-site
  • Help enhance future visitor experiences

No two days will be the same—your responsibilities may include coordinating contractors, staff training, analysing visitor feedback, or shaping seasonal experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Planning & Delivery

    • Support Event Team Leads in planning and delivering individual events.
  • Seasonal Event Development

    • Research and develop ideas/material for season-themed events.
    • Assist in creating project plans (with guidance from Event Team Leads) and oversee repeat seasonal events.
  • Contractor Management & Compliance

    • Oversee contractors on-site and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies.
    • Support contractor induction and training.

  • Event Evaluation & Insights

    • Compile, analyse, and write up event evaluation reports.
    • Provide insights from visitor feedback.
  • Accessibility & Inclusion

    • Develop and implement accessibility plans to ensure event standards are met.
  • Equipment & Asset Management

    • Logistically move and maintain equipment across the two sites.
    • Support management of the inventory.

Location & Flexibility

This is a dual-site role, alternating primarily between London Zoo and Whipsnade Zoo.

  • ~50% of time at each location (typically two days per week).
  • Remaining time flexible to meet operational needs.
  • Evenings, weekends, and occasional overtime required, compensated by Time Off in Lieu (TOIL).

Requirements

With a focus on events operations and logistics, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in event set-up, theming, or contractor coordination.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
  • A creative mindset for developing innovative outlet experiences.
  • Hands-on practical skills (e.g., managing physical layouts, equipment, outdoor work).
  • Full, valid UK driving licence essential.
