Description
The Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University seeks highly qualified candidates to fill course instruction needs in one of three disciplines: theatre, music or audio technology. Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in their emphasis area.
Please note: This advertisement is not for a specific role but for various temporary faculty opportunities within Clemson University’s Department of Performing Arts as they become available.
This part-time and/or temporary full-time opportunity to teach one or more courses is available as needed. Courses may be offered in spring, summer, and/or fall terms and one or more modalities and locations. The start date varies according to departmental teaching needs. The areas of content expertise for teaching at the undergraduate level required but not limited to may include:
Theatre Appreciation Directing Set Design Music Appreciation Vocal or Instrument Lessons Audio Technology Lighting Design

The Performing Arts degree at Clemson University is a nationally distinctive degree that integrates the technology, performance, production, theory, and history of the performing arts into a unified program of study that prepares students for careers in many aspects of the arts including theatre, music and audio technology. The Department of Performing Arts occupies the Robert Howell Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. The Brooks Center is an 87,000 square foot educational/performance building that includes classrooms, rehearsal halls, offices, and supporting spaces.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the secondary or college level Provide evidence of research and/or creative work and is conversant in performing arts and contemporary professional practices along with expertise in content aligned with a departmental program area or areas, and recent professional acting and/or directing, audio technology or musical instruction and/or performance experience Desire to stay current and relevant in area of practice Commitment to and interest in diverse student recruitment
