Exams Officer Position – The North School
Salary:
- £28,641 – £30,201 p/a (Full-Time Equivalent, Scale D)
- £25,378 – £26,761 Pro Rata for part-time roles
Contract: Term Time + 10 additional days (40-week year)
Start Date: September 2026

About The North School
The North School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Exams Officer to ensure the smooth delivery and high standards of the exam season. This role demands absolute accuracy, exceptional organisation, and strong communication skills, with a focus on supporting both staff and students.
Prior experience in a school setting is beneficial, though not mandatory. A genuine interest in working with young people and flexibility to adapt to a busy school schedule are essential. Ability to build strong working relationships with staff, governors, and the wider school community will be key.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior examinations officer, overseeing all exams administration, including:
- Electronic registration and entry for GCSEs, A-Levels, vocational qualifications, mock exams, and internal assessments across all year groups
- Ensuring full compliance with JCQ and exam board requirements, including updates on regulatory changes
- Manage the invigilation team, including:
- Clear briefing of duties before, during, and after examination periods
- Effective communication between staff, invigilators, and senior leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for:
- Examination-related queries from staff, students, or parents
- Processing relevant documentation (e.g., exam recall requests, special arrangements)
- Maintain record-keeping and administrative accuracy for exam-related records and archiving

Requirements
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with an uncompromising attention to detail
- Excellent IT proficiency (familiarity with digital exams entry systems a plus)
- Desirable: Previous experience as an exams officer or within further/高等教育 校园管理
- Familiarity with the MIS system Bromcom appreciated but not essential
- Compassionate understanding of the demands on students, along with expertise in supporting special circumstances
- Ability to work flexibly during term time plus additional exam-related duties
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to troubleshoot under pressure
