The starting salary for this position is £34,660 per annum for 36 hours per week based at Guildford Adult Learning Centre.

Surrey Adult Learning are excited to be hiring a new Exams Officer! You’ll be part of a team who are passionate about providing valuable learning experiences to adults in our community and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring the effective administration of examinations across the Surrey Adult Learning course programme and Apprenticeship programme.

Flexibility and additional hours will be required to ensure cover during peak exam periods with some evening working. The post holder will also require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel between centres.

About Surrey Adult Learning

Surrey Adult Learning is a leading provider of diverse daytime, evening and Saturday courses and learning opportunities for adults. We offer a wide range of qualification courses, including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), maths, and digital skills. Our courses also cater to individuals with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and parents/carers seeking to upskill to support their children. Additionally, we provide courses for personal development in various subjects such as arts and crafts, languages, and exercise. Our outreach provision is designed to assist those currently facing life challenges.

About The Role

An experienced Exams Officer, your role will be to develop, implement, and manage the administration of examinations across the Surrey Adult Learning course programme and Apprenticeship programme. You'll work together with, and advise, the Senior Leadership Team, Curriculum & Learning Team, Learning Support Coordinator and Centre Staff on examination procedures, requirements, timetables, and application procedures as set by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and various awarding bodies.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

  • Previous experience working as an Exams Officer in a school, FE college, or similar setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong administrative ability and IT skills
  • Excellent organisation with the ability to multi-task, manage own workload and meet deadlines
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to be flexible during peak exam periods
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle to allow you to travel to various locations within Surrey

  • Please describe any previous experience you have as an Exams Officer or in administering examinations or assessments.
  • Please provide an example of a role where you were responsible for administrative processes requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and how you assured that standards were met?
  • Describe a time when you successfully managed multiple priorities and deadlines. How did you organise your workload to ensure tasks were completed on time?
  • Please outline your experience of using IT systems and software to support administrative, data management or reporting activities.
