Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to support our external drainage works on a busy project in Heritage Fields (Sittingbourne). You will operate 360 tracked excavators to install drainage infrastructure, manholes and associated pipelines, working to tight tolerances while maintaining the highest standards of safety, productivity and plant care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Excavating for external drainage runs, including foul and surface water, in accordance with drawings, levels and line.
  • Digging and trimming trenches to required gradients for pipe laying, manholes and inspection chambers.
  • Assisting pipelayers with the installation, bedding and surround of drainage pipes, manholes and gullies.
  • Backfilling and compacting around newly installed drainage using suitable materials and compaction plant.
  • Safe lifting and positioning of manhole rings, covers, pipe sections and other drainage components using lifting accessories.
  • Working with trench boxes, manhole boxes and trench sheets to maintain safe excavations at all times.
  • Ensuring all required permits (including dig permits) are in place before starting excavations.
  • Working safely around live services and existing drainage, applying service avoidance techniques at all times.
  • Completing daily pre-start checks, reporting defects, and maintaining high standards of excavator cleanliness and presentation.
  • Carrying out routine greasing and basic maintenance in line with manufacturer and site requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
