Excavator Operator - Relief Driver
Excavator Operator – Hailsham Project (Full-Time Relief Role)
Role Overview
We are looking for skilled Excavator Operators to join our groundwork teams on a busy project in Hailsham. You will operate 360 tracked excavators across a variety of groundwork and drainage tasks, maintaining the highest standards of safety and plant care.
This is a relief driver role, requiring a commitment of 4–5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Digging strip foundations, trenches and bulk excavations to drawings and specified levels
- Topsoil levelling, type 1/crush placement and road formation works
- Lifting and working with trench boxes, manhole boxes and trench sheets
- Acknowledging the need for dig permits before breaking ground
- Experienced working around live services and employing service avoidance techniques
- Conducting daily pre-start plant safety inspections and maintenance checks
- Carrying out essential greasing, basic maintenance, and keeping machines clean and tidy

Requirements
Essential
- CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Excavator (+/- 10t Tracked)
- CPCS Lifting Operations / NPORS Excavator as Crane
- Valid Safety Critical Medical (site-specific)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively with other trades
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable (but not guaranteed)
- GPS machine control experience
- CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper
- CPCS / NPORS Ride-On Roller
- CSCS-affiliated Telehandler & Quick Hitch Attachment training
- 5+ years of relevant experience
