We’re hiring an Executive Assistant to support the Director of Change, replacing Ciara Heslam until vacated.

The Change Directorate oversees strategic, regulatory, and operational change initiatives, acting as a bridge between teams to achieve the FCA’s priorities. The role requires exceptional organisational skills, discretion, and agility to manage competing demands and deliver high-quality support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Coordination Partner with the Director of Change and senior leadership to align:

    • Strategic priorities
    • Stakeholder communications
    • Key deliverables for the FCA’s Change Portfolio
  • Trust & Relationship Management Act as a trusted point of contact for the Director, handling sensitive communications discretely while nurturing strong stakeholder relationships.

  • Decision Support Prepare high-impact briefings, presentations, and meeting materials, ensuring leaders have timely, accurate information for informed decision-making.

  • Diary Coordination (PA Collaboration) Work proactively with the PA to:

    • Manage Director’s engagement with senior stakeholders
    • Enable effective leadership amid competing priorities.
  • Cross-Divisional Collaboration Develop partnerships within the FCA, including Finance, HR, Strategy and business areas, to streamline delivery of change initiatives.

  • Problem-Solving & Diplomacy Build cross-organisational relationships using judgement and initiative to:

    • Troubleshoot challenges
    • Facilitate clear communication

Requirements

Minimum

  • Stakeholder Experience: Demostrable skills in building/managing relationships with senior internal/external contacts
  • Workload Management: Track record handling complex, fast-paced workloads with competing demands and agility for reprioritisation
  • Ownership Mindset: Problem-solving in focused but time-critical environments, identifying opportunities for efficiency

Essential

  • Organisational Experience: Proven ability in a large public/regulated sector environment
  • Stakeholder Intelligence:
    • Confident collaboration across levels (championing teamwork)
    • Ability to diagnose challenges and offer practical recommendations
  • Discretion & Complexity: Confident handling sensitive matters with tact and professionalism
  • Communication:
    • Excellent written/verbal skills (e.g., adapting info for diverse audiences)
  • Contextual Judgement:
    • Unafraid to question complex decisions constructively when needed
  • Independence & Tools Proficiency:
    • Works autonomously, manages priorities, and is proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
