Job Posting Title: Executive Communications Strategist Position Type: Professional / Unclassified Department: LSUAM Office of Communications and University Relations (Ashley Kristen Arceneaux (00009958)) Work Location: Lakeshore House Pay Grade: Professional Job Description: The Executive Communications Strategist serves as a key member of the Chancellor’s Office, responsible for shaping, executing, and maintaining the Chancellor’s voice across platforms and audiences. This role operates at the center of institutional strategy and daily execution, supporting high-impact communications that advance the Chancellor’s priorities, elevate LSU’s national reputation, and reinforce its position as a leading public research university. This is a fast-paced, high-visibility role for a strong writer and strategic thinker who can move seamlessly between long-range messaging and real-time needs. The ideal candidate is trusted, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating with discretion in a dynamic leadership environment. This is a strategy-, social-, and writing-forward role with direct impact on executive voice and institutional reputation. This position reports to the Chief of Staff to the Chancellor and maintains a dotted-line relationship to University Communications (Marcomm) to ensure alignment with institutional messaging, brand, and strategy. Job Responsibilities: 30%: Chancellor Voice & Content Development: - Draft speeches, remarks, op-eds, and briefing materials for a wide range of audiences - Develop talking points and messaging frameworks aligned with institutional priorities - Ensure consistency, clarity, and authenticity in the Chancellor’s voice 25%: Social Media & Digital Presence: - Lead strategy, content development, and management of the Chancellor’s social media - Create platform-native content that balances institutional messaging with storytelling - Identify opportunities to elevate research and institutional momentum - Monitor performance and refine strategy using analytics 20%: Executive Correspondence – Tactical & Strategic: -Draft and manage high-level correspondence including responses and acknowledgments - Lead proactive, strategic correspondence efforts that advance institutional priorities - Distinguish between transactional and strategic communications - Track and execute correspondence with timeliness and precision 15%: Strategic Messaging & Briefings: - Support messaging for emerging issues and leadership priorities - Prepare briefing materials for meetings, events, and media - Operate with discretion, urgency, and sound judgment 5%: Cross-Functional Coordination: - Collaborate with Marcomm, Government Relations, Advancement, and campus communicators - Ensure alignment with institutional campaigns and priorities 5%: Other Duties as Assigned Additional Information: Position may be required to report to work in cases of emergency or crisis, as an "essential personnel." The position is required to work from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-F with potential evenings or weekends. May be required to travel at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor. Ability to report to work during crisis situations to assist with university communications. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field 2-5 years of relevant experience -Experience supporting senior leadership -Familiarity with social media analytics LSU values skills, experience, and expertise.
