About the Role
One of the UK’s most ambitious law firms is looking for an Executive Director of Business Development to lead a newly created function with real influence, visibility, and scope. This is a chance to set the agenda and help shape the firm’s growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the firm’s leadership and directly with the Chief Client Officer, you will bring focus, pace, and commercial discipline to how the firm wins, grows, and develops its most important client relationships.
- You will set clear sector growth priorities and build a more focused client development approach, balancing new business with deepening existing relationships.
- You will develop and lead a BD team that will challenge thinking, unlock opportunities, and build momentum.
- You will turn insight, market intelligence, and client knowledge into action, pipeline, and tangible wins.
- You will partner with the Strategic Communications leadership so that BD, marketing, and communications are working towards the same growth priorities.

- With previous expertise across business development and client development from within legal or wider professional services, you will become a trusted adviser at leadership level, bring structure to ideas and ambition, and turn these into growth opportunities.
- Previous team management experience is essential, as well as a demonstrable track record in delivery, building structures, and executing commercial outcomes.
- This role will require someone to travel regularly to the South West, or be based there with travel to other offices.
