Housekeeping Operations Manager
Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Hertfordshire
Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel company with 600+ global locations, invites applications for an experienced Housekeeping Operations Manager to oversee daily operations at their historic grade 2 listed property in Hertfordshire—a setting of Jacobean elegance blending classic grandeur with contemporary hospitality.
About the Role
Responsible for leading Housekeeping, Laundry, and Health Club operations, this role ensures meticulous maintenance of guestrooms, public spaces, and associate areas while upholding the property’s financial budget and high standards of guest/associate satisfaction. The position requires expertise in managing complex hotel operations, inspections, staff accountability, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing Housekeeping Operations
- Oversee daily shift operations, ensuring compliance with housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinate with Front Desk on room status updates in a timely and efficient manner.
- Work closely with Engineering to address guestroom maintenance needs and prioritise repairs.
- Supervise the general cleaning schedule and manage work assignments for cleaning teams.
- Inventory supplies to ensure adequate stock of cleaning materials, guestroom amenities, and uniforms.
- Organise inspections for all guestrooms and public spaces, addressing non-compliance and follow-up action.
- Support staff training, including onboarding and progressive development for room attendants.
- Ensure uniform, equipment, and supply distribution across teams.
2. Managing Departmental Costs
- Monitor controllable expenses to meet or exceed departmental and property budget goals.
- Analyse budgets, payroll reports, and financial statements to optimize operational efficiency.
- Track the impact of departmental operations on overall property profitability.

3. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
- Respond to guest complaints and proactive service improvements, fostering guest satisfaction.
- Empower staff to deliver exemplary hospitality and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead departmental meetings with a guest-first mindset, emphasizing service excellence.
4. Conducting Human Resources Activities
- Participate in employee accident investigations as needed.
- Manage staffing levels to balance guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives.
- Ensure fair and consistent enforcement of property policies, including disciplinary procedures and documentation.
- Conduct performance appraisals and follow-up training for team members.
- Assist in recruitment, interviews, and hiring for new roles within the department.
- Oversee a structured orientation programme for new hires.
- Support peer review processes and progressive discipline procedures.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should meet one of the following criteria:

Experience Pathway:
- High school diploma or GED plus 2+ years of experience in housekeeping or a related hospitality field.

Education Pathway:
- Two-year degree from an accredited institution in:
- Hotel & Restaurant Management
- Hospitality Studies
- Business Administration
- Related field
- No prior experience required.
