Job Summary

You will oversee the daily shift operations of Housekeeping, Laundry & Health Club areas in this Grade II listed building, ensuring impeccable standards across guestrooms, public spaces, and staff areas. Your leadership is crucial in maintaining guest satisfaction, upholding operating budgets, and ensuring compliance with housekeeping policies. This role demands exceptional organisational skills and a passion for delivering superior hospitality in a historic and scenic setting.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

Possess one or more of the following qualifications and experience:

  • High school diploma or GED + 2 years of experience in housekeeping, hospitality, or a related professional field.
  • OR
  • 2-year degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline (no work experience required).

Core Responsibilities

1. Managing Housekeeping Operations

  • Ensure guestroom status updates to the Front Desk are accurate and timely.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering on guestroom maintenance needs.
  • Supervise general cleaning schedules and work assignments for check-ins/check-outs.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies for cleaning and guest comfort.
  • Oversee shift operations and enforce housekeeping policies, standards, and SOPs.
  • Assist in ** procurements** of guestroom supplies, cleaning products, and uniforms.
  • Lead an effective inspection program for guestrooms, public areas, and employee workspaces.
  • Address equipment/supply deficiencies and train staff on corrective actions.

2. Managing Departmental Costs

  • Participate in budget analysis to meet/exceed financial goals.
  • Monitor operational expenses (e.g., supplies, labour) to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Review operating statements, payroll progress reports, and budgets to support fiscal decisions.

3. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

  • Resolve guest complaints or issues promptly.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in service quality.
  • Equip staff with customer service training to deliver a consistently outstanding experience.

4. Conducting Human Resources Activities

  • Assist in employee accident investigations and incident documentation.
  • Align staffing levels to meet guest demand, operational goals, and budgets.
  • Ensure staff adherence to property policies and fair disciplinary procedures (SOPs & LSOPs).
  • Observe and provide constructive feedback on employee performance.
  • Organise new hire training and facilitate ongoing development opportunities.
  • Support performance reviews, progressive discipline, and hiring/interviewing processes.
  • Help implement new employee orientations to ensure competence.
