About the Role
You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and if applicable, Laundry. Collaborating closely with staff, you will ensure that guestrooms, public spaces, and employee areas are clean, well-maintained, and meet high standards. This role also involves conducting regular inspections to guarantee compliance and facilitating corrective actions where necessary. The position supports guest and employee satisfaction, aligns closely with operational budgets, and empowers the team to uphold excellent service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Managing Housekeeping Operations
- Successfully communicate guestroom status to the Front Desk team in a timely and efficient manner.
- Work closely with the Engineering department to promptly address guestroom maintenance needs.
- Plan and supervise the property's general cleaning schedule to maintain operational efficiency.
- Obtain and prioritise room assignments for cleaning, including prospective check-outs or discharges.
- Inventory and order stock to ensure adequate supplies of cleaning materials and uniforms.
- Oversee daily Housekeeping shift operations while ensuring compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards, and SOPs.
- Collaborate on ordering guestroom supplies, cleaning supplies, and uniforms to maintain a well-equipped department.
- Implement and oversee an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public spaces.
- Clearly identify and communicate improvement areas to staff while ensuring understanding.
- Ensure team members have the proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
Managing Departmental Costs
- Actively participate in managing departmental expenses, ensuring budget goals are met or exceeded.
- Understand the financial impact of departmental operations on the broader property's budget and goals.
- Review budgets, operating statements, and payroll reports to support effective financial management.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
- Address and resolve guest problems and complaints with a focus on satisfaction.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in service performance during meetings and throughout team practices.
- Empower staff to strengthen customer interactions, fostering outstanding guest experiences.
Conducting Human Resources Activities
- As required, investigate employee accidents and document findings for further action.
- Manage staffing levels to balance guest service demands with operational efficiency and adherence to budget objectives.
- Ensure clearly defined expectations and standards align with company policies.
- Facilitate fair and consistent application of disciplinary procedures as dictated by Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs).
- Observe employee service behaviours and provide feedback to foster improvement.
- Utilise training tools to effectively onboard and train room attendants, as well as conduct follow-up sessions.
- Participate in the employee appraisal process, providing constructive feedback on individual performance.
- Assist in hiring and interviewing new team members with the necessary skills and experience.
- Enhance and support the department orientation program, ensuring a productive new hire experience.
- Collaborate on implementing progressive disciplinary procedures as needed.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
Or Any Of The Following: One of:
- High school diploma or GED, combined with two (2) years experience in housekeeping or a related professional area.
- Two (2)-year degree from an accredited university in:
- Hotel and Restaurant Management
- Hospitality
- Business Administration
- Related field – no work experience required.
