Responsible for the daily shift operations of the guest rooms, recreation/health club, and laundry department (where applicable). Lead and collaborate with staff to ensure cleanliness of hotel rooms, public areas, and staff zones. Complete inspections and delegate corrective actions. Assist in maintaining guest and staff satisfaction while adhering to operational budgets.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED; 2 years of experience in hospitality or related fields, specifically in housekeeping.
  • Associate’s degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or related field; no prior experience required.

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of room status to the front desk.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering teams to meet room maintenance requirements.
  • Supervise housekeeping schedules and assign tasks.
  • Retrieve lists of rooms needing urgent cleaning and check-out/check-in rooms to allocate staffing.
  • Conduct inventory checks to maintain supplies.
  • Oversee housekeeping shift operations, ensuring compliance with all departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist in procurement of room service supplies, cleaning products, and uniforms.
  • Support and oversee daily inspection plans for rooms and public areas.
  • Communicate focus areas to staff and follow up to ensure understanding.
  • Ensure all employees have proper equipment, tools, and uniforms.

  • Participate in managing or reducing controllable expenses to meet and exceed budget targets.
  • Understand the impact of departmental operations on hotel-wide financial goals and responsibilities.
  • Review budgets, operational reports, and staffing allocation reports as needed to aid financial management.

  • Continuously improve service standards and performance.
  • Empower staff to deliver excellent guest service.
  • Emphasise guest satisfaction in all departmental meetings and focus on continuous improvement.

  • Conduct employee incident investigations as needed.
  • Manage staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial goals.
  • Ensure employees understand performance expectations.
  • Ensure policies are applied fairly and consistently, including disciplinary procedures, approvals, and documentation.
  • Observe and provide feedback on employee performance.
  • Utilise training tools to onboard housekeeping staff and provide continuous training as needed.
  • Lead staff readjustments for performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist in recruitment and selection processes for qualified staff.
  • Support the introduction and delivery of comprehensive employee training programs.
  • Participate in employee coaching and escalation procedures.
