Executive Housekeeper I

Housekeeping & Laundry Department Manager

About the Role

This position is responsible for the daily shift operations of Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and (if applicable) Laundry. By directing and collaborating with staff, this role ensures guest rooms, public areas, and employee spaces remain clean, maintained, and impeccable at all times. The successful candidate leads inspections, enforces corrective actions, supports guest and employee satisfaction, and maintains operational budgets within designated financial goals.


Key Responsibilities

Managing Housekeeping Operations

  • Confirm timetly communication of guestroom status to the Front Desk.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on guestroom maintenance requirements.
  • Oversee the general cleaning schedule across the property.
  • Assign work tasks based on room inventory (check-ins/outings).
  • Manage stock and supplies to ensure equipment and uniforms are available.
  • Enforce adherence to housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Coordinate guestroom supplies, cleaning chemicals, and uniform inventory.
  • Lead and monitor a departments inspection program for guestrooms and public spaces.
  • Provide clear communication regarding repairs and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Ensure staff have all necessary supplies, uniforms, and equipment.

Managing Departmental Costs

  • Assist in managing controllable expenses and achieving budget goals.
  • Track financial performance through budgets, operating statements, and payroll reports.
  • Support the property’s overall financial goals and objectives.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

  • Handle guest complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Drive continuous improvement in service quality.
  • Foster excellent customer service among staff.
  • Highlight guest satisfaction in internal communications.

Human Resources & Team Management

  • Investigate employee safety incidents as needed.
  • Manage staffing levels to balance service, operations, and finances.
  • Ensure fair and consistent policy administration, documentation, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Observe and provide performance feedback to employees.
  • Train and mentor new room attendants using internal tools.
  • Participate in performance reviews and disciplinary processes.
  • Assist in Interviewing new hires with required skills.
  • Support a structured employee orientation program.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

Option 1:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in housekeeping or a related industry.

  • 2-year degree from an accredited institution in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, or Business Administration.
  • No experience required.
