Role Summary And Impact

This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about media and interested in consumer behaviour to join EssenceMediacom’s Research and Insight team based at their Manchester campus.

As part of EssenceMediacom, the Research and Insight team acts as the voice of the consumer within the agency. They collate, curate, and share game-changing insights with both the agency’s global teams and clients across Manchester and Leeds. Their work is structured around four key activities:

  • Providing bespoke research solutions: Answering client questions through extensive qualitative and quantitative research using a range of methodologies.
  • Integrating industry-leading insight tools with first-party digital data: Combining data sources for deeper, actionable audience understanding.
  • Generating industry-leading thought leadership: Addressing pivotal questions while co-developing products that feed into media planning.
  • Pushing the boundaries of impactful media and insight solutions, ensuring that EssenceMediacom remains second to no other agency in audience research.

Role Responsibilities

  • Developing and working alongside internal teams to address complex insight challenges.
  • Addressing client-driven questions and enriching media planning using advanced insight tools (e.g., consumer trends, social listening, cultural intelligence).
  • Designing and executing tailor-made research solutions (e.g., online quantitative surveys, focus groups, and online research communities) in collaboration with the Director, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards via close client and supplier collaboration.
  • Preparing high-caliber client reports by transforming complex datasets into impactful visual narratives.
  • Co-authoring proactive research content and thought-leadership pieces for strategic PR and new business opportunities.
  • Collaborating across EssenceMediacom offices and WPP entities to develop and implement new insight products.
  • Leading initiatives in leveraging AI’s role in research evolution, identifying opportunities for applying emerging tools to enhance client value.

Skills And Experience

Essential Skills:

  • Passion for consumer understanding and marketing with an unwavering commitment to effective communication across all channels.
  • Experience with industry-standard insight tools such as Brandwatch, TGI, and YouGov Brand Index.
  • Proficiency in web analytics and keyword search tools, including SimilarWeb, Google Keyword Planner, and Google Trends.
  • Strong analytics mindset with ability to craft clear narratives from data.
  • Creative talent for interpreting and presenting insights engagingly, highlighting meaningful consumer insights.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, with proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint and an expertise in converting large datasets into compelling stories.
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, consistently delivering high-quality results.
