The Reality Check
If you are currently sitting in a corporate consulting, fintech account management, or investment banking seat, you already know the problem: your earnings are capped by rigid corporate grids, your promotion timeline is dictated by politics, and you spend half your day dealing with internal bureaucracy.
Onyx Alpha Partners is a specialized search boutique operating at the sharp end of the hedge fund market. We don't do high-volume, transactional recruitment. We build elite, passive pipelines for top-tier multi-strategy hedge funds.
We are hiring our first core delivery professional in London. This is your path out of the corporate grind and into the high-margin world of buy-side human capital.
The Structural Parallels: How Your Skills Translate
You do not need a background in recruitment to excel here. We are specifically looking for professionals whose daily work maps directly onto our execution layer:
- Prospecting: The outbound muscle you use to map out and open institutional clients translates directly into running high-signal, credible outreach to passive alpha generators.
- Due Diligence: The client profiling and discovery you execute in consulting or banking is exactly how you will validate candidate backgrounds, assess career motivations, and track readiness signals over long cycles.
- Market Mapping: Your experience organizing structural data and navigating institutional org charts is exactly how you will use our tech to track where elite quantitative talent sits across the street.
- Candidate Briefing: You will learn to profile candidates against live mandates, gather the readiness signals that matter, and flag anything worth a founder-level conversation. All senior PM and trader assessment stays with the founder; your job is to build and manage the pipeline that feeds those conversations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The Upside: Why This Seat is Unique
- Uncapped, Direct Payouts: We operate on premium institutional fee structures. A single attributable placement per year triggers a bonus event that materially exceeds your entire base salary. You are directly monetizing your execution, not waiting for a discretionary corporate pool.
- AI-Driven Edge: You will not be building databases from scratch. We back you with a proprietary, AI-optimized research engine that automates the heavy lifting of market mapping and signal detection, leaving you free to focus on human relationships.
- True Autonomy: We are a small, founder-led firm in our fourth year. There are no meaningless corporate KPIs, no micromanagement, and no forced career ladders. You work directly with the founder and get immediate, deep exposure to how the world's most sophisticated hedge funds operate.

What You Need to Bring
You have 2 to 6 years of professional experience in a high-touch environment (e.g., FinTech Account Management, Management Consulting, Prime Brokerage Client Services, or Sell-Side Sales). You must possess:
- Long-cycle patience: the ability to cultivate relationships over months, not days.
- Flawless follow-through: you track your pipeline meticulously and follow up without needing to be chased. This is the single most important trait for this role. We will screen hard for it.
- Sharp intellectual polish: the credibility and market vocabulary to hold peer-level conversations with sophisticated financial professionals.
How to Apply
Send your CV to tmorapedi@onyxalpha.io with a short note covering two things: how your current background parallels this seat, and one specific example of a commitment you set for yourself and followed through on without anyone chasing you.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
