Exercise Therapist
Exercise Therapy Support Worker
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Exercise Therapy Team. The role involves supporting an number of wards across the Trust by providing prescribed exercise interventions to promote the physical and mental health of our patients.
About the Role
The position primarily relies on providing Exercise Therapy support for adult patients (aged 18+) with mental health illnesses across acute admission wards. This role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), delivering tailored exercise-based treatments to enhance recovery and improve wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across acute admission wards to deliver prescribed exercise interventions.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with service users, encouraging the benefits of physical activity and supporting lifestyle changes.
- Conduct pre-activity health screen and review appointments, including:
- Baseline physical health measurements
- Discussions about health and exercise goals
- Personalised exercise plan prescription and facilitation
- Engage with a multi-disciplinary team to collaborate on:
- Exercise treatment plans
- Physical health triggers
- Patient progress tracking
- Discharge planning

Role Location & Flexibility
- Primary base: Bamburgh Clinic, St Nicholas Hospital
- May provide cover across the exercise therapy departments as required
Training & Support
- Experience with clinical populations in healthcare settings is beneficial but not essential.
- In-house training provided, and the role will offer opportunities to work closely with an experienced MDT.
