Experienced Construction Professional - Volunteer
SLYC provides practical construction skills training programmes to young men (14-24), of black-heritage, within Lambeth in South London, who are not engaged in employment, receiving an education, or undertaking any form of training (NEET's).

Your input will assist in shaping the training packages that will be available to our service users, stakeholders, funders and the general public Your knowledge will help direct our board, volunteers and partners with much needed information about providing the best ways of working and most inclusive services/activities to assist our end users Your experience and the advice you provide, will enable us to develop SLYC, in order to empower our young people to succeed in gaining qualifications, finding employment, or to continue with further/higher education Your building and trades/construction 'know-how' will ensure the continued community work on our planned projects is amplified and sustainable.

What are we looking for?
We are seeking someone with a passion for and long-standing construction skills experience/qualifications in various building disciplines; who is able give the board the benefit of their expertise by advising on construction matters in as many areas as possible i.e -
Solar Panel Installation Kitchen Fitting Bricklaying Security Systems Installation Plastering Tiling Painting & Decorating Carpentry & Joinery Gas Engineering Plumbling Electrical Installations Welding

As a young and developing organisation, we seek an individual who shares our vision and mission enough to spend the necessary time and effort on this critical activity; to help facilitate the success of our future builders.
If you are someone who has in the past, or are running a business currently and is able to come on board in an advisory role - we would like to speak with you.
You will be working with the CEO/Founder of SLYC Joanne Jarrett and be supported by the Chair and other Trustees.
