Working with Shearwater Marine

Our Company

Shearwater Marine Services has a well respected background supporting marine based infrastructure projects. Our company has recognised pedigree from underwater inspection, maintenance and repair contracts to large scale, high profile, marine construction and diving projects.

We have high customer retention and an excellent reputation for providing invaluable and professional assistance to construction industries, renewable energy providers, defence, local government agencies, utilities providers, ports and harbour authorities, consultant engineering firms and shipping and ferry companies.

The Role

Working from our facility in Dunoon, you'll be involved in a varied range of fabrication projects across the marine and industrial sectors. We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work, can read engineering drawings confidently, and enjoys working as part of a skilled team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricating steel, stainless steel and aluminium components from engineering drawings.
  • Marking out, cutting, fitting and assembling fabricated components.
  • Preparing work for welding and inspection.
  • Working closely with welders, machinists and engineers.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and workmanship.
  • Ensuring work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

Required Skills

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven fabrication experience.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and pride in their work.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • Recognised fabrication apprenticeship or qualification.
  • Experience with marine, heavy engineering or structural fabrication.
  • Knowledge of EN 1090 and/or ISO 3834 quality requirements.
  • Forklift, telehandler or overhead crane experience.
