Experienced Social Worker – Assessment and Child Protection
Swindon (Hybrid Working) £42.00 per hour (Umbrella) Locum Contract

Swindon Borough Council is looking for dedicated professionals to join their forward-thinking Assessment and Child Protection team. Safeguarding and the welfare of children is core to providing a service dedicated to ensuring all children grow up safe from harm.

- Work independently to hold and effectively manage complex and multi-faceted caseloads
- Work directly with children, young people, and families, involving all key family members and prioritising children and young people’s safety
- Conduct meaningful and in-depth assessments of social needs and risk/harm to children with a focus on:
- Parental capacity
- Parent’s ability to change
- Recognise harm and risk indicators across different forms of harm for children
- Ensure SMART, child-centred plans are in place for all partners, including parents and children, enabling measurement and sustainability of progress in the child protection process and planning
- Provide statutory support to:
- Complex social work cases assessed as high-need, high-harm
- Potential or likelihood of accessing court processes or statutory care
- Write reports for court hearings and present evidence in court, including Court of Protection and High Court proceeds where necessary
- Uphold standards of practice for social workers as defined by Social Work England (SWE)
- Align with the BASW Professional Capabilities Framework for Experienced Social Workers

Requirements
We’re seeking experienced Social Workers with:
- A qualified degree (Degree/DipSW/CQSW) registered with Social Work England
- Proven strengths-based social work experience with:
- Adults
- Children
- Safeguarding
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area (beneficial but optional)
- Training or willingness to pursue Practice Educator status and undertaking placement supervision of student social workers
