Expert Engineer – Advanced Electrification Testing (AET) – Pangbourne Technology Centre

About the Role
Igniting the future of electric mobility. As part of the Applied Sciences team, the Advanced Electrification Testing (AET) group is vital to the Research & Technology Group, delivering specialist testing, engineering support, and technical innovation to fuel our product development and testing segments.
Our Pangbourne Technology Centre is expanding into a centre of excellence for electric vehicle and data centre technologies, featuring a new battery testing facility and advanced data centre capabilities.
We’re seeking an Expert Engineer to lead complex testing programmes, refine procedures, and position our team at the forefront of this transition.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your mission? Spearhead high-value engineering and testing projects, pushing the boundaries of electric mobility while operationalising robust methodologies.
- Leading research & development (R&D) from inception through execution to result dissemination
- Sourcing, optimising, and applying design of experiment (DoE) methods and analytical techniques for validation
- Pioneering superior test setups, equipment calibration, and validation strategies
- Driving technical leadership across a portfolio of concurrent testing programmes
- Cultivating talent by mentoring junior engineers and colleagues
- Instilling safety-first culture through risk assessment reviews, compliant operations, and output validation
- Advocating for AET and Castrol—both internally and externally—by engaging technical stakeholders

What We’re Looking For
We need a **specialist in real-world testing, capable of blending deep analytical certification with hands-on delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
✅ Degree level in engineering (minimum BSc) ✅ Stanley capable credentials: hands-on professional testing experience, particularly in safety-critical environments ✅ Proficient in physical testing, measurement, validation, and data-driven analysis
- Experience with prototypes, advanced test equipment/distribution architectures
- Skilled in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
- Passionate about working independently, leading complex testing at scale
Preferable Distinguishing Factors
